The Creative Hub would love to celebrate another incredible gem of Elgin County,
The Story of FINESSE™ details the creation of a new card game designed to make learning bridge easier and more accessible. Bridge, once a widely popular game, is in decline due to its complexity and aging player base. Recognizing the steep learning curve as a significant barrier, creator Carole Coplea developed FINESSE™, a simplified, visually driven version that introduces core bridge mechanics engagingly. Instead of traditional bidding, players use a board with ramps to vote for trump suits, and the number of cards and rules are streamlined to ease new players into the game.
FINESSE™ was tested locally and received strong positive feedback, especially for its engaging and mentally stimulating nature. The game is designed with universal playability, features a language-free board, suit-identifying symbols for colorblind players, and customizable rules for varied skill levels. It supports strategic play and teamwork in a family-friendly format, requiring four players in two teams. With the first production run due in August at an introductory price of $30, pre-orders have already begun for numbered and signed editions, showing early enthusiasm for the game's potential.
